Air Cure Additive Fabric Inks | Synthetic Fixing Agent | Suits 250ml size
Used where items can't be heat set (fabric will melt).
AquatexSKU: FI-PPA
A fixing agent for our Aquatex supercover or metallic fabric inks, added to the inks to both increased the adhesion onto synthetic materials and eliminates the need to heat set - ink will air dry.
Also called Poly Prop Additive, as originally used for printing polypropylene bags and polar fleece tops - synthetic materials which can not be heat set using heat contact or the material will melt.
Commonly used to print activewear, nylon, lycra and other synthetic items previously requiring careful or low temperature heat setting.
Air Cure Additive is used with only supercover ink base and changes the formulation in two ways:
1. The adhesion level of the Supercover base is increased for synthetic surfaces
2. Makes the ink air cure (no heat setting is required) as the ink sets after drying (up to 72hrs)
Formulated to bond with the molecular base of the ink without distorting the pigmentation level and finished colour.
Print Technique
Using Air Cure Additive is an advance printing technique, as the ink your printing is trying to dry whilst your printing. Where the ink remains moving and 'wet', it will not dry, however if too much time is taken between prints and the ink allowed to dry on the screen, a halt to printing will occur whilst you stop and clean the screen of the dried ink before resuming.
You must print off contact to ensure no ink remains in the screen after printing (direct printing method is not suitable for this reason).
Avoid using Retarder, to combat the drying effect of the additive as this will increase the 'wetness' of the ink and result in increased drying time of the print to several days, possibly over 10 days in humid areas.
Usage
Mix at 45ml to 250ml of ink.
Formulated to work within the structure of the base, without distorting the pigmentation level and finished colour.
- Does not dilute pigmentation when added
This is a 45ml mix to suit 1:1 ratio mix into 250ml of ink.
Suitable for use with Aquatex Supercover or Metallic Fabric Inks.
- Print elevated/ off contact.
- Advanced printing technique as ink may dry in screen
